Description

This course will lead us to the astrological contents represented in some of the Roman decorations made between the fifteenth and the sixteenth century.
We’ll focus on the Galatea’s Loggia in Villa Farnesina where the ceiling shows the natal chart of the commitment Agostino Chigi for passing through the Vatican Palaces – in particular to the Borgia’s Apartments – where we’ll be able to admire the fruitful union between art and stars.
We’ll discover through extraordinary works of art – some famous, others less known – how much the sky and its harmony always fascinated the human beings – starting from the Popes – which wished they could be able to read their destiny written in it.

Expert

Valentina Vacca is an art historian PhD who works as a professional tourist guide in Rome and Vatican City.
She studied in Italy, Spain and France where obtained the PhD in art history.
She took place to international conferences in France, UK, USA and Italy.
She used to work for the National Academy of Fine arts in Rome.
